… I had the chance to go to a boarding school to specifically improve my piano playing. You have to know that I was born with a good musical hearing and a natural talent. Luckily I declined the offer because I did not want to get stuck in one genre, with one predefined path for my life. Instead, I experimented. 

My heart took me away from the confined space of practicing Chopin and Bach to the freedom of playing electronic music on small, self-organised parties. Frankfurt, my hometown, with its unique blend of underground-poshness served me as an entry gate to the universe of house and techno club culture and my first nights out in Cocoon club still influence some of my musical selection to this day. 

It was in Berlin where I got to know the real underground scene - in fact I was, and still am, part of it. We broke into abandoned buildings, set up a DJ booth, P/A and generator and played until the police found us. It was incredibly hard work but these rare moments of intimate connection to the audience in a special setting were worth every minute of effort it took me to get there. That’s what I live for. 

From all the sets I played, the ones I enjoyed most took place in the outdoors, just around sunset. There is something deeply satisfying about being in tune with nature that lets the minds of the audience and mine get on the same wavelength, where we connect to what seems to be a deeper rhythm of life. The contrast between nature and technology, tradition and future, tribal beats and floating melodies is what influences most of musical selection today. 

Of course, my way back to the piano was inevitable. The fascination for clear melodies has never really left me. At the moment I am dabbling at producing a mix of classical and house music. What comes out of it is unclear but it is an exciting journey I love to get on.
